Rolex перестала производить популярные часы Cosmograph Daytona
Rolex unexpectedly unveiled a white gold Cosmograph Daytona last year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans 24-hour race. However, just ten months later, the watch was discontinued, leading to a surge in its resale value.
Prior to the unveiling at Watches and Wonders, the watch was trading at around $180,000, significantly higher than its $51,400 retail price. Currently, unworn pieces with a full set are being advertised for over $320,000, marking a substantial increase in value.
Despite the advertised prices, it is important to note that the actual selling prices may vary. The prices tracked by Chrono24 show a 23% increase this week, from $225,000 to $273,500.
The new model featured an 18ct white gold case, a Paul Newman-style reverse panda dial, and a modified calibre 4131 movement to include a 24-hour counter in tribute to the Le Mans race. Additionally, the watch had a black Cerachrome bezel with the number 100 highlighted in red.
Rolex enthusiasts compared the design to the vintage Daytona 6263, praising the new release for its aesthetic and historical references. CEO of Bob’s Watches, Paul Altieri, expressed excitement over the model, emphasizing its connection to the brand's heritage.
Overall, the discontinuation of the white gold Cosmograph Daytona has sparked interest among collectors and enthusiasts, leading to a significant uptick in its resale value.
